Randy Mitchell
In spite of Randy Mitchell being an Art Education major in college he became a historian and taught history for over 35 years. His art background enhanced his teaching and helped his students pay attention. His creativity allowed him to work with various museums, like Colonial Williamsburg, where he created an award winning artifact kit. His love of history and his creativity lead him to making wooden art.
Randy’s wooden projects are inspired by the folk art of yesterday and he hopes that his whimsical art will not only give you a sense of the past, but also brings a smile to your face. Much of Randy’s art is inspired by things he has done as a living history re-enactor and member of the Hangtown Marshals.
Randy’s favorite projects are kinetic, toy-like workers, cowboys, posable bears, fly fishermen, and mountain men. There are also small stationary dioramas and business card holders. All of which can be created to match your hobby or specific business. Most of the dioramas are designed to be dismantled for ease of shipping. Nearly all of the wood Randy uses is recycled, or has been harvested from his mountain property.
