I first discovered my love of photography in my 20's after taking a course in black & white photography and seeing what artists like Edward Weston, Brett Weston, Imogen Cunningham, Alfred Stieglitz and especially ANSEL ADAMS created with their images. I even had the wonderful opportunity to meet Ansel Adams at a lecture he was giving at a local (Northern California) college many years ago and as a result I was definitely hooked. Unfortunately as much as I tried pursuing photography, life and reality had a way of interfering with my dream of becoming professional photographer. However, I did become a terrific snapshot artist at various events for family and friends much to the chagrin of my daughters.
When digital photography started to come on the scene I stayed away from it due to what I saw as a quality of image issue. However, digital photography kept advancing and around 2010 the image quality finally started to compete with the quality of film. Since then digital photography has actually surpassed film and the fact that you no longer need to process your images in a darkroom, served as a NEW SIREN CALL to me to try once again to follow my dream. In late 2009 I did just that and started jt Photo Images.
As you will see in my work, I find the most interesting facet of photography for me is capturing the colors and moods of nature. Whether in the subtle hues of "Under Capitola Pier",the very moody but rich colors of my "Abandoned Cottage, Islay Scotland", the strange and wonderful San Francisco Fog in "Foggy Beauty", the vibrant colors of "Capitola Colors" or the movements of and the various colors of my "Onaqui Wild Mustang" photos, I hope you will view my work and enjoy it and put it in your home or office.
Bottom line, I love taking photos of things and places that you might not ever see but that bring pleasure to your minds eye.
