Do you remember the first time you fell in love? It's like that for me with fused glass art... I wake up thinking about it, let my mind roam to create designs, see patterns everywhere, and marvel at the beauty of a finished piece.
I've been a stained glass artist for about 40 years, on and off, so I was familiar with glass before I took my first fused glass class in early 2019. I'd also tried dichroic glass jewelry and glass blowing, but neither was for me. About 10 minutes into my first fused glass class, though, I fell in love with this art form.
Like all art, creating fused glass art uses both sides of the brain -- the logical, systematic, rule-following part as well as the crazy creative part where anything (just about) goes. And like most art, there's an infinite number of things to learn, which will take me the rest of my life to explore.
